Chocolate-Sauerkraut Cake
Ingredients:
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/4 Teaspoon Salt 1 t.
1 Teaspoon Vanilla 1/4 tsp if Watkins
1 1/2 Cups Sugar (for decoration)
1 Cup Water or orange juice
1/2 Cup Unsweetened Cocoa sifted
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda (dissolved in a little warm water)
3 Eggs slightly beaten with
Cup Butter or margarine
2 1/4 Cups Flour sifted
Cup Sauerkraut well drained and chopped
Directions:
1. Grease and flour two 8" or 9" (round) layer-cake pans.

2. Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla.

3. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with water.

4. Stir in sauerkraut. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake is done when tested.
