All-American Chocolate Chip Cookies

2/3 cup Margarine or butter softened
1/3 cup Shortening
1 cup Brown Sugar packed
1/2 cup Sugar granulated
1 Egg
1 teaspoon Vanilla
2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 dash Semisweet Chocolate Chips
1 cup Walnut chopped

1. In large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugars Beat in egg and vanilla.

2. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; stir into butter mixture, mixing well.

3. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls, 2 inch apart, onto greased baking sheets.

4. Bake in 350 F oven 8-10 minutes, just until edges are golden (centers will still be soft).

5. Remove to wire racks to cool. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
