1. Preheat oven to 350F Grease 15 X 10 X 1 inch jelly-roll pan.
2. In large mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, butter, egg yolk and almond extract.
3. Beat at low speed of electric mixer, scraping bowl often, until particles are fine, 2 to 3 minutes.
4. Press on bottom of prepared pan. In small bowl, beat egg white and water until frothy; brush on dough.
5. Sprinkle nuts over top. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes or until very lightly browned.
6. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.
