Ingredients:

3 Eggs at room temperature
1 Cup Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1/4 Teaspoon Salt to taste
1 Cup Margarine
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
3/4 Cup Buttermilk
1 Teaspoon Orange Grated
1 Cup Brown Sugar packed
3 Cups Flour unsifted
1/2 Cup Walnut
1 1/2 Cups Apples peeled and chopped

Directions:

1. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt.

2. Set aside. Cream butter and sugars; beat in eggs one at a time and vanilla.

3. Stir in buttermilk alternately with flour mixture.

4. Fold in apples, nuts and orange peel. Pour into two 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 5/8 inch greased and floured loaf pans.

5. Bake at 350 degrees 50-60 minutes or until wooden pick inserted near center comes out clean.

6. Cool in pan 10 minutes; remove from pan and cool completely on wire rack.

7. Wrap and let stand overnight to allow flavors to blend.
