Apple Pie Caramel Almond

Ingredients:

1 Cup Flour (to 4 1/2 cups)
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Salt to 1 ts
1/2 Cup Vegetable Oil *
1 Tablespoon Milk cold
5 Unit Apples peeled, cored, and sliced, Tart
4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon Cornstarch Dissolved In
1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice depending on the
1/4 Cup Butter or margarine; soft
1/2 Cup Sugar
2 Tablespoons Flour (to 4 1/2 cups)
2 Tablespoons Milk cold
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon Ground
3 Ounces Almonds sliced
1 Unit Sour Cream light or dairy

Directions:

1. In small bowl, stir together flour, sugar and salt.

2. With fork, beat together salad oil and milk.

3. Stir oil mix itno flour mix to make a soft dough.

4. Press dough into 9" pie plate or 10" shallow au-gratin dish.

5. Press edges to make sides about 1" high in gratin dish; make sides come to top of pie plate.

6. Bake at 425 for 10-12 minutes or until golden.

7. While crust bakes, prepare apples. Mix with sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice.

8. Turn into baked pie shell. Melt butter in skillet.

9. Add sugar, flour, cinnamon and almonds. Boil 1 minute, stirring.

10. Pour over apples in pan to coat evenly. Bake at 425 for 25-30 minutes or until caramel topping is golden and bubbly.

11. Cool before serving. Excellant served with sour cream, or may serve with lightly sweetned whipped cream.
