Auntie Anne's Pretzels

Ingredients:

1 1/2 Cups Water
2 Tablespoons Honey
4 Cups Bread Flour
1 1/2 Teaspoons Yeast scant tab
2 Cups Water Warm plus
1/2 Pound Butter or margarine
1 Dash Salt to taste
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Brown Sugar

Directions:

1. Mix yeast, brown sugar, dash of salt and 1 1/2 cups water. Let sit for five minutes. Add bread flour. Knead well.

2. Let rise for about one hour. Take a piece of dough and roll and shape into a pretzel.

3. The easiest way to shape is to roll into a rope, whatever size you prefer.

4. Pinch ends of rope then bring ends of rope to other side of circle. Mix baking soda and warm water.

5. Melt butter and mix with honey. Dip pretzels in baking soda and water mixture.

6. Bake at 550F for approximately 8 minutes.

7. Sprinkle with white and brown sugar.

What is the purpose of the melted butter and honey mixture? Is it supposed to be some sort of dip? That's a lot of butter...
