Batter To Use for Deep Frying Foods

This is a multipurpose batter that is great for deep frying fish, vegetables, and chicken. If you like batter dipped veggies, this is one to try.

Ingredients:

1 Teaspoon Vegetable Oil for frying
1 Teaspoon Baking Powder Divided
1/2 Cup Cornstarch (up to)
1 Cup Water 80 deg,(1/3 cups)
2 Teaspoons Salt pepper to taste,
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour Unsifted
1 Teaspoon Sugar (or less, to taste)

Directions:

1. Mix all of the ingredients together and blend until there are no lumps.

2. Preheat the oil in your deep fat fryer to the proper temperature for the food you are cooking.

3. Dry the fish or the vegetables with a paper towel and dip into the batter.

4. Place in the hot oil one piece at a time. Try to keep the pieces from colliding until the batter has had a chance to set (which it does almost instantly).

5. Cook until the batter has turned a golden brown, remove to a paper towel to drain and serve at once.
