Biscuits Supreme

Ingredients:

2 Teaspoons Sugar plus extra for coating
1/2 Teaspoon Cream Of Tartar (up to)
2 Cups Flour divided
Cup Milk (homogenized)
4 Teaspoons Baking Powder soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt pepper to taste,
1/2 Cup Shortening Melted

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F Stir together the flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar and salt.

2. Cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

3. Make a well in the center. Pour in the milk all at once.

4. Stir just until dough clings together; NO MORE.

5. Knead gently on a lightly floured surface for 10-12 strokes.

6. Roll or pat to about 1/2-inch thickness. Cut with a (about) 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, dipping the cutter into flour before each cut.

7. Transfer to an ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 450 degrees F oven for 10-12 minutes, or until golden.
