Brown Rice Pilaf

Ingredients:

2 Cups Brown Rice
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil or vegetable oil
1 Pinch Sage fresh chopped
1 Pinch Thyme Leaves or oreganon
1/2 Teaspoon Pepper preferably cracked
1 Pinch Rosemary crushed
1 Tablespoon Unsalted Butter cut into small piece
2 Teaspoons Salt (if using water)
3 Onions (sweet, if possible), diced 1/2&
5 Cups Water (you may need more)

Directions:

1. Heat butter and oil in a large sauce pan.

2. Add onion and saute until wilted. Add the herbs and the rice and mix well to distribute flavors.

3. Add water, salt and pepper and bring to a boil, stirring.

4. Reduce heat, cover and continue cooking over very low heat for about 45 minutes.

5. Check the moisture about halfway through in case you need to add a little more water.

6. The rice is ready when tender yet a little chewy.
