Directions:
1. Cream sugar, shortening and vanilla; add egg yolks and beat until smooth.2. Sift all dry ingredients together 3 times. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to the creamed mixture.3. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in greased and floured layer pans (3) for 20 to 25 minutes in a 325 degree oven.4. Frost with Seven Minute or Cream Cheese Frosting (see recipes).
