Butterscothch brittle is very easy to make boil then bake. The ingredients used are every day items you would normally have around the house so its not like you need to make a special trip to the store. Brittle also last a long time and makes a great gift.
1. Combine sugar, syrup, water, and salt in a 3-quart saucepan.
2. Slowly bring to a boil, stirring constantly until sugar completely dissolves, then frequently to prevent burning.
3. Boil to 285 degrees (soft-crack stage). Add butter and continue to cook, stirring constantly until temperature reaches 295 degree (hard-crack stage).

5. Pour into a well-buttered 13x9-inch pan. Cool, then break into pieces.
