Canadian Lemon Bread

This simple quick-bread recipe will yield a dessert with a delicate, tangy flavor. Slice and serve with your favorite tea, or sneak a piece for your midnight snack!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup Margarine Butter or
1 cup Sugar
1 Lemon (large)
2 Eggs beaten
1 1/2 cups Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Milk
1/2 cup Walnut chopped (optional)
1/4 cup Sugar Confectioners\\\'

Directions:

1. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.

2. Grate peel from lemon and add to creamed mixture.

3. Squeeze juice from lemon and set aside. Add eggs, flour, baking powder, salt and milk to creamed mixture and blend well.

4. Stir in nuts. Turn batter into greased 9x5-inch loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees one hour.

5. Combine lemon juice and confectioners' sugar and mix well.

6. Pour over hot loaf and allow syrup to sink into bread.
