Cape Cod Cranberry Scones

This is a great addition to any breakfast or brunch. This simple recipe takes a traditional scone and spices it up with the flavors of oranges and cranberries.

Ingredients:

2 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
3/4 cup Butter
1 cup Cranberry coarsely chopped
2 teaspoons Oranges peel grated
2/3 cup Sugar

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400F. In mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; cut in butter with pastry blended or two knives.

2. Stir in cranberries, orange peel and sugar; stir in buttermilk just until ingredients are moistened. working on floured surface, shape dough into two 8-inch circles, 1/2-inch thick.

3. Cut each circle into eight wedges and place on ungreased cookie sheet.

4. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, until lightly browned.
