1 1/2 Cups Flour 1 1/2 Cups Flour whole wheat
1 Teaspoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda 1/2 Teaspoon Baking soda heaping
1 Cup Brown Sugar 1 Cup Firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 Cup Oatmeal 3/4 Cup Quick cooking (1 minute) oatmeal
1/2 Cup Shortening 1/2 Cup Shortening (or oil)
1 Can Cherry Pie Filling 1 Can Cherry pie filling (21oz)

1. Sift flour, salt and soda together into a bowl.

2. Blend in brown sugar and oatmeal. Cut in shortening until particles are size of small peas.

3. Press 1/2 of mixture into bottom of ungreased 9"x13" pan.

4. Spread with cherry pie filling (I usually use 2 cans).

5. Cover with remaining oatmeal mixture. Press down gently with a spoon or your fingers.

6. Bake at 350F, 25-30 minutes. Serve warm with whipped topping or ice cream.
