1. Cream shortening and brown sugar till fluffy; blend in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
2. Add molasses; beat well. Stir together flour, cinnamon, baking soda, nutmeg, cloves, and salt.
3. Stir into creamed mixture, and beat well. Stir in raisins and nuts.
4. Spread in greased 13 X 9 X 2-inch baking pan.
5. Bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly; sift powdered sugar over the top.
6. Cool thoroughly; cut into bars. Makes 32 bars.
