Chocolate Coffee Cake

3 Cups Flour whole wheat
2 Cups Sugar
1/2 Cup Butter (kitchen scales are best used for accuracy)
1/2 Cup Shortening (I just use butter)
2 Teaspoons Cinnamon (or more, to taste)
2 Teaspoons Baking Soda (dissolved in a little warm water)
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cloves (optional)
3 Tablespoons Cocoa
2 Cups Buttermilk room temp
1/2 Cup Walnut

1. prep 1 hour Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. Grease and flour 9X13" pan. Mix flour, sugar, butter, and shortening.

3. Mix well until crumbly. Save 1 cup mixture for topping.

4. To the rest add cinnamon, baking soda, cloves, buttermilk, and cocoa.

5. Beat 2 minutes of med-high. Stir in the nuts.

6. Pour batter into a 9X13 pan. Sprinkle the reserved 1 cup crumb mix over top.
