Chocolate Pecan Pie Healthy

Pecan pie, in itself, is a wonderful indulgence. But add chocolate; and you have sheer decadence. And you don't even have to feel guilty about splurging on this delectable dessert, as the ingredients in chocolate pecan pie actually contain many health benefits. Chocolate is great for blood flow and pecans not only lower cholesterol, but are full of nutrients. So give in to that sweet temptation and enjoy!


1 Unit Pie Crust
1/2 Unit Butter
3 Unit Semisweet Chocolate
1 Cup Light Corn Syrup (Karo)
1/3 Cup Sugar brown
1 Teaspoon Extract Of Vanilla or orange flower water; optional
1/4 Teaspoon Salt (I used reduced sodium)
3 Unit Eggs hardboiled
1 1/2 Cups Pecans (optional)
1/2 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream (up to 3)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Prepare crust according to package directions.

3. Roll out on lightly floured board into circle 2 inches larger than 9-inch pan.

4. Line pie plate with pastry. Trim pastry edge, leaving overhang and fold overhang under and flute edges.

5. Set aside. In 2 quart saucepan over low heat, melt butter and chocolate together until smooth.

6. Remove saucepan from heat. With fork, beat in corn syrup, sugar, vanilla, salt and eggs.

7. Beat until well blended. Arrange pecans on bottom of pie crust.

8. Carefully pour egg mixture over pecans. Bake 1 hour or until knife inserted 1 inch from edge comes clean.

9. Cool on rack. Serve garnished with whipped cream or make your own favorite crust.
