1. Boil the potatoes in the water w/the bay leaf, sage & cumin seeds until just tender (15-20 min.).
2. Meanwhile, saute onion in butter until translucent. Add flour and incorporate.
3. Add cream, stirring with a whisk. Pour this sauce into the potatoes and their water, adding also the corn kernels.
4. Add chopped herbs & rest of seasonings & let soup simmer gently for about 10 min.
5. Stir in grated cheese & wine, mix well, and heat until cheese is completely melted.
