1. Press cloves into orange and place it in a heavy saucepan.
2. Add water, cranberry juice, sugar, cinnamon, bitters and allspice.
3. Bring to a simmer, stirring until sugar dissolves.
4. Reduce heat to very low, cover and simmer 1 1/2 hours.
5. Strain into punch bowl or crockpot. Two tablespoons rum to each cup is optional.
