Ingredients:

1 Cup Sugar (for decoration)
1/2 Cup Water room temperature
1/8 Teaspoon Cream Of Tartar (meringue)

Directions:

1. Combine ingredients.

2. Heat to boiling. Stir until sugar is dissolved.

3. Wipe all grains of sugar from sides of saucepan with a damp cloth.

4. Boil without stirring to the hard crack stage (285 - 290 F).

5. Carefully remove all grains of sugar from sides of saucepan.

6. Remove saucepan from fire. Set in pan of cold water to stop boiling instantly.

7. Remove from cold water and set in pan of hot water.

8. Place each piece of fruit or nuts on a fork.

9. Dip into syrup. Drain. Place at once on waxed paper.

10. When syrup becomes too thick, reheat by placing over hot water.
