1. Preheat oven to 350 F, and grease and line a 2 lb loaf tin.
2. Cream butter and sugar.
3. Gradually add eggs and flour.
4. Stir in apples and lemon rind.
5. Pour into the tin and sprinkle with sugar and spices.
6. Bake for 1- 1 1/2 hours.
