Mom's Date Squares

Ingredients:

1 Cup Brown Sugar or honey (opt.)
1 1/2 Cups Flour * (6 to 7)
1 3/4 Cups Oatmeal not instant
1 Teaspoon Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt optional
3/4 Cup Shortening soft +

Directions:

1. Cut shortening into dry ingredients and rub with hands until mealy.

2. Put half in pan, cover with date filling and put rest of crumbs on top and press down.
