This is a unique recipe for Oatmeal Ginger Snap cookies. It is a spicy take on oatmeal cookies, or you could see it as a healthy addition to gingersnap cookies.


2 Eggs
1 Cup Sugar (optional)
1/4 Cup Molasses
1/4 Teaspoon Salt to taste
1/4 Teaspoon Ground Cloves
1 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Cup Shortening
1 Teaspoon Ground Ginger
3/4 Cup Oats
1 1/2 Cups Flour unsifted

1. In large bowl, stir together first seven ingredients.

2. Blend in shortening, molasses, eggs.

3. Beat well for 2 minutes.

4. Form into 1 inch balls.

5. Roll in sugar, place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.

6. Bake @ 375 8-10 minutes.

7. Take out of oven. Let stand for 1 minute.

8. Cool on rack. Makes 3 1/2 dozen.
