This recipe only requires a few ingredients, but the addition of ripe pears to a classic bread pudding really takes this recipe from delicious comfort food to gourmet and interesting.
2. Heat rum mixture and pour over raisins; set aside.
3. Melt 1 tbsp of butter in fry pan, add pears and cook 5 minutes.
4. Add 1/4 cup sugar, stir and cook 2 more minutes and then put aside.
5. Place bread in bowl. Scald milk and pour over bread.
6. Let soak 5 minutes. Add raisin mixture and pears with syrup.
7. Beat together eggs, rest of sugar, vanilla and stir in bread mixture.
8. Pour in buttered baking dish, bake at 350F for 50 minutes.
