Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 450~.2. In medium bow, mix flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt.3. With pastry blender or two knives, cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.4. With fork, stir in milk just until mixture forms a soft dough and leaves side of bowl.5. On lightly floured surface with floured hands, knead dough 10 times.6. Pat dough 3/4 inch thick. With floured round cookie cutter (3 1/2"), cut out as many biscuits as possible.7. Place biscuits, about 1/2 inch apart, on large cookie sheet.8. Press dough trimmings together; pat and cut as above.9. Brush biscuits with beaten egg. Bake 12 to 15 minutes until golden.
