Steak and Gravy Pie

My favorite meal growing up: steak and gravy pie.

Ingredients:

2 cups Potatoes raw diced
2 1/2 cups Beef Broth boiling or bouillon
Allspice dash
Ginger dash
1/2 teaspoon Paprika
1/8 teaspoon Pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons Salt
1/4 cup Flour
1 lb Beef Top Round Steak
1 Pie Crust
1 cup Onion sliced
2 tablespoons Shortening

Directions:

1.Cook onions in shortening until lightly browned; remove and set aside.

2.Dredge meat in flour mixed with salt, pepper, paprika, ginger and allspice.

3. Brown in the hot shortening. Add boiling beef broth, cover and simmer for about 1 hour, or until meat is tender.

4. Add potatoes and cook for 10 minutes longer.

5.Pour mixture into an 8-inch greased casserole; arrange onions on top. Cover with pie pastry; crimp edges and cut slits for steam.

6.Bake at 400 F for 30 to 40 minutes.
