Ingredients:

1 Teaspoon Salt pepper to taste
2 Cups Oats * see note
1/2 Cup Walnut chopped, reserve some
1/2 Cup Shortening (1 part shortening &
2 Eggs room temp
6 Tablespoons Molasses dark
1 1/2 Cups Sugar brown, packed
1 Teaspoon Soda dissolved in milk
1 Cup Raisin (up to 2)
1 3/4 Cups Flour All-Purpose --
1 Teaspoon Cinnamon if desired

Directions:

1. Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and molasses.

2. Add flour, soda, salt, and cinnamon. Stir in oats, nuts and raisins.

3. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.

4. Bake 8-10 minutes at 400 degrees. [Grandma sent me some hickory nuts once.
