1. Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Beat Crisco, sugars, applesauce, baking powder, and vanilla in a large bowl.
2. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in chips.
3. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet and bake at 375 for about ten minutes. Pull them out when the lumpy parts are starting to turn brown, probably a minute or two before you would pull regular cookies.
4. Let them cool for a few minutes to set up before you try to take them off of the pan.
