Churros (Mexican Crullers) Family Recipe

Ingredients:

1/8 Teaspoon Salt 1 t.
1 Cup Water or orange juice
6 Tablespoons Butter or margarine Softened
1/4 Teaspoon Cinnamon (generous)
3 Eggs slightly beaten with
1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
1 Cup Confectionery Sugar approx

Directions:

1. Pour oil 1 inch deep into a 10 inch skillet.

2. Heat to 370 degrees. Bring water to boil in a 2 quart saucepan.

3. Add butter and salt. Heat until butter is melted.

4. Add flour all at once; remove from heat. Beat until mixture is smooth and is the consistency of mashed potatoes.

5. Beat in one egg at a time. When smooth, beat in cinnamon.

6. Turn mixture into a pastry bag fitted with a large star tip.

7. Squeeze directly into hot oil, making churros about 8 inches long.

8. Cook 3 or 4 at a time until a deep golden brown; turn occasionally.

9. Drain over skillet, then on paper towels. Sift powdered sugar over churros.

10. Serve immediately. Do not store. Makes 16 churros.

very good recipe but i did tweak it a bit my family really likes cinnamon so the 1/4 teaspoon was not enough i added 1/4 cup also the batter was way to thin so i added about an extra 1/2 cup of flour and a great add on on that my kids thought of was caramel sauce to dip them in ty very much for this recipe
